How were the objectives achieved?

Thorough research & using statistics

from Arizona / Maricopa County websites, government websites, food shelters like St. Vincent de Paul, & Arizona news station websites.
All statistics use a common factor, “throughout the years” to create visual graphs.

  • I wanted to specifically include graphed visuals about:

    • the population number increase throughout the years,

    • apartment rent prices throughout the years, and

    • the correlation of minimum wage & inflation throughout the years

  • These three topics coincide with one another and by providing all statistics from all three standpoints, the audience can then ponder amongst themselves as to why these topics exacerbate the problem.

to support and explain what is being depicted on the graphs.

  • I wanted the text to summarize and highlight the most impactful points of the displayed data.

  • I opted to find the parts that felt more “heavy” & “shocking” in an attempt to drive a point home.

“How can you help?” section at bottom of page

  • I wanted to give the viewer options for helping out or even seeking help. I wasn’t just going to info dump and leave the graphic as it was.

  • I wanted the viewer to almost interact with the information provided. I wanted the earnest onlookers to be loaded up with understanding and empathy from the situation. Just enough to so they felt moved & could act on how the felt in the moment.

Although the infographic details the harmful effects of inflation and housing scarcity in Arizona, my goal was to create a story that inspires viewers to reflect on their response to this information. I want them to consider how they can help, seek help, or at least develop greater empathy and understanding of the crisis.

This color palette was colorblind friendly, just in case B&W prints need to be distributed.

This color palette was inspired by Sedona.

White space and hierarchy were used to achieve visual cohesiveness.

Although the infographic extensively discusses the detrimental effects of inflation and housing scarcity in Arizona, my intention was to craft a story that instilled a sense of accountability in viewers.

I aim for them to contemplate their response to this information. What are they going to do from now on with this information? They can help, they can seek help, if they’re unable to do either, at least they’ll end up with heightened empathy and a clearer idea of the crisis's complexities.

Colors

The convention's visual identity uses consistent purple and green colors.

Torn paper & Tape

I replicated their social media and website motifs.

Typeface

I used the convention's typeface, Interstate, for consistency and legibility.

Colors

The convention's visual identity is characterized by the consistent use of purple and green throughout their social media accounts and the signage in the venue itself.

Torn paper & Tape

These motifs were prevalent across their social media platforms and website. It’d only be natural to adapt it into all media forms. I did my best replicating it into this brochure.

Typeface

I aimed to maintain consistency by utilizing the same typeface featured in the convention's visual identity. I ended up with using Interstate due to its legibility & how it offers a versatile range of styles.

This color palette was colorblind friendly. In case people wanted to print and distribute copies of this graphic in black and white, the information is still legible.

I opted for this color theme because it reminded me of Arizona’s scenic view of Sedona. The warm tones reflected the hot climate.

White space and hierarchy were used to achieve visual cohesiveness.
